S. Robert Morais

Shanghai: Opportunity and Refuge – The story of my family’s 100 years in Shanghai.

Bio: Rabbi S. Robert Morais received ordination from Hebrew Union College’s Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati Ohio. Rabbi Morais is currently the senior Rabbi for Temple Anshe Hesed of Erie PA.

After ordination in 1997 Rabbi Morais served Temple B’rith Kodesh in Rochester, NY as the associate rabbi and director of youth programs. In 2004 he became the Executive Director for Hillel of the Rochester Area Colleges.

In 2006 Rabbi Morais became the Director of Education and Lifelong Learning for Temple Israel of West Bloomfield MI, the largest Reform synagogue in world with a school of 1300 students.

In 2011 Rabbi Morais became the director of Shalom Street Museum, a hands on Jewish children’s museum that specialized in creating experiential Jewish programs for children and youth. Rabbi Morais has also was also the congregational rabbi for Temple Beth Israel in Jackson MI. From 2015-19 he served as Senior Rabbi for Temple Israel in Ottawa ON.
