During January and February 2020, the JDC International Centre for Community Development (JDC-ICCD), American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s research unit in Europe and Asia conducted the First Survey of Jewish Leaders and Community Professionals in Asia. The project surveyed over 100 key community decision-makers based in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Indonesia and Thailand on their opinions concerning the major priorities and challenges facing Jewish communities in Asia within the next few years. This session will present and discuss the main findings, such as the main priorities for the future, the perceived tensions and threats and internal decision-making processes.
Bio: Mario Izcovich is Director of the Pan European programs and Leatid, the European Center for Jewish leadership for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC Europe & Africa-Asia), as well as JDC Director for the programs in Germany, China, Czech Republic & Slovakia. He is a key speaker on Community Development. In Europe, among other things, he helps Jewish communities develop their organizations in the areas of strategic planning, programs, outreach and innovation. Mario is a psychologist and lives in Barcelona with his wife and two children.
